New hall underway!!
Just as the children left for the Half Term holiday, the builders arrived to start on our new school hall. Thanks to the Portsmouth Diocese and £10,000 from our PTFA, we are creating a wonderful place for worship, PE, Lunchtimes and celebrations.
They started tonight in Beech Class, moving everything out of the hall including the piano and PE equipment. Then they covered the floors with special tape to protect the carpets. The first job is to lay the new wooden floor tomorrow so everything needs to be cleared.
After the floor the builders will start on the ceiling which will be painted blue with a cloud effect. Then, large fluffy clouds will arrive and will be hung from the ceiling to improve the accoustics.
Later the walls will be painted and new blinds will be put up. The large windows will be etched with a picture of a huge tree and some scripture. Tiny blue lights will festoon the ceiling to create a starlit effect and a new sound system will improve the music quality in the room.
New noticeboards will display all the children's hard work-----------And finally, a backlit moon will be hoisted into place to complete the transformation.
Work should finish before the end of November, just in time for the Christmas concert practices.
