Our KS1 children had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Netball Festival, where they practised and honed their netball skills. The event was a fantastic success, showcasing not only their athletic abilities but also their excellent listening and teamwork skills.
The festival began with a series of skill-building exercises. The children eagerly participated in drills that focused on passing, shooting, and footwork. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they listened attentively to the play leaders' instructions and worked hard to improve their techniques.
One of the highlights of the day was the teamwork displayed by our young athletes. They communicated effectively on the court, encouraging and supporting each other throughout the activities. This cooperation was evident in the way they passed the ball seamlessly and moved as a cohesive unit during practice games.

On March 25th, St. Matthews School took part in an exhilarating handball tournament featuring four other competitive teams. The event was a remarkable display of teamwork, collaboration, and sportsmanship.
The tournament format was unique and engaging, with the girls playing the first halves of the matches and the boys taking over for the second halves. This structure not only highlighted the versatility and skill of all players but also fostered a strong sense of unity and cooperation amongst the teams.
From the very first whistle, the St. Matthews girls demonstrated exceptional coordination and strategic play, setting a solid foundation for their teams. Their determination and skill were evident as they manoeuvred through tough defences and executed precise passes. The boys then took the baton, continuing the momentum with their energetic and dynamic gameplay.
Throughout the tournament, the St. Matthews teams exhibited outstanding team spirit. Players encouraged each other, celebrated successes together, and supported one another through challenges. On a bright and energetic day, St. Matthews proudly participated in a thrilling dodgeball tournament held at Eggars School. Competing against nine other teams, our students showcased their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
St. Matthews brought two teams to the event: St. Matthews Yellow and St. Matthews Green. Both teams played with great enthusiasm and determination. St. Matthews Yellow faced tough competition and secured 5th place out of 6 teams in their group. Meanwhile, St. Matthews Green demonstrated impressive agility and strategy, earning a commendable 3rd place out of 5 teams in their group.

On a lively evening at Oakmoor School, 11 talented children took to the stage to showcase their dance skills in a spectacular show. The event featured a total of eight other acts, creating a diverse and entertaining program.
The young dancers captivated the audience with their graceful movements and vibrant energy, earning enthusiastic applause from the crowd. The school's auditorium was filled with over 400 proud parents and family members, all eager to support their children and enjoy the performances.
The dance show not only highlighted the students' hard work and dedication but also brought the community together in celebration of their achievements. Sycamore Class lead a fantastic church service this morning to mark Ash Wednesday.
St. Matthew's Primary School recently attended an exciting netball event for our Year 3 and 4 students. The session was filled with various activities centred around netball, allowing the children to develop their skills and understanding of the game.
The event kicked off with a series of fun and engaging drills designed to improve passing, shooting, and teamwork. The students eagerly participated, showing great enthusiasm and determination. Coaches and teachers were on hand to provide guidance and encouragement, ensuring that everyone had a chance to shine.
Following the activities, the children had the opportunity to put their newly honed skills to the test in a series of friendly matches against other local schools. The matches were thrilling to watch, with each team demonstrating excellent teamwork and sportsmanship. The students supported one another, communicated effectively, and played with great spirit.

Our KS1 students recently dazzled us with their impressive gymnastics skills during a special showcase event. Twenty one enthusiastic children participated in a variety of bench activities and core skills exercises, demonstrating the techniques they have been diligently practising throughout the year.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for the students to display their agility, balance, and coordination. Each child showed remarkable progress and confidence, impressing both teachers and parents alike. From balancing on benches to executing precise movements, their hard work and dedication were evident in every performance.
