Mrs O and Mrs P - the 'Forest school Fairies' (aka The Forest School Team)
In Forest School today, Rainbows were thinking about 'Little Red Riding Hood'. They used clay and natural materials to make characters from the story.
We then played a game called the 'Honey Bear' game. Rainbows did great listening and played the game very sensibly!
Rainbows enjoyed their first Forest School session today. We talked about how to keep safe in the woods, and played games to reinforce the rules. We then explored the woods and collected natural materials to stick onto our 'journey strips' to show where we had been, and the boundaries of the Forest School area.
Willow Class have enjoyed making dens this morning to shelter from the damp and windy conditions! Some of the girls were also using their imaginations to make potions using natural materials.
Apple Class really enjoyed making giant bubbles with Mr Manning today. They especially enjoyed popping them!
Ash class enjoyed sampling honey from a local bee-keeper today. We learnt about how bees make honey, and how the honey is harvested.
Rainbows enjoyed making 'Coronation Crowns' in Forest School today. They found natural materials and stuck them to their card crowns.
We enjoyed reading the story of 'Stick man' today. Some of the children made stick people in Forest School, and some of them worked together to build an obstacle course.
Willow Class enjoyed playing with the ice today. We brought out some food dye and coloured the ice to make mosaic tiles.
All of Rainbows had a go at fire lighting today. They listened carefully to the instructions, and followed my instructions. Some of the children were able to make some sparks with the fire steel, and with some help they could light the cotton wool. Well done Rainbows!
All of the classes have enjoyed coming back to Forest School! Year 1 and 2 have been enjoyed making spider webs and Autumn objects. Year 3 and 4 have been trying to make 'stone age' houses, and Year 5 and 6 have been building war shelters. Rainbows have now had three Forest School sessions, they are very good at remembering the rules, and have enjoyed playing a variety of Forest School games!
Rainbows enjoyed completing a range of activities in Forest School today. All of the children chose the activities they wanted to complete. Some tried fire lighting and showed great persistence and determination in lighting the cotton wool. They all managed to make some sparks and were proud of their efforts. Lots of the children enjoyed exploring the woods to find bugs, and they were trying hard to identify them. Rainbows also enjoyed using the equipment. It was lovely to see them all so busy and engaged (even in the hot weather!)
Apple Class enjoyed completing a range of activities today. Some of them were using the tools to make 'wood cookies' and wands, and others went bug hunting. A few children made some clay ornaments, and a group of boys made a fantastic den to shelter from the sun.
