Today Apple Class worked together to build a 'Sukkah'. They have been learning about the festival of Sukkot in class, and using the natural resources they could find outside, they built a 'Sukkah'. Some of the children made some lovely decorations for the shelter out of leaves. Charlie layered leaves to make a beautiful flower.

After building the 'Sukkah' the children enjoyed using the 'scramble' net and playing a group game.

Sycamore enjoyed making toast on the fire. Some of the children helped to set up the fire, and then everyone (who wanted to cook), had a chance to cook the bread.  A few children also tried whittling, and the others enjoyed playing on the 'Scramble' net. It was a lovely session, and the children were all focused and excited to cook something new on the fire.

Beech class enjoyed cooking apples on the fire today. Sophie had brought some in and was keen to boil them on the main fire. Some of the other children tried to get the 'Kelly' kettles going, but they were unable to keep them going because they hadn't collected enough dry kindling.

Beech class played some group games, and they had a go at den building too. The session was slightly shorter due to the 'Bikeability' workshops.

Rainbows were really helpful today.  A cheeky squirrel has been building a home in the Forest School trolley and chewing up the bags. The children decided to go and make some dens/homes for the squirrel. The children worked well together to move large logs and branches to form their dens. Some of the children used clay to make the homes.

We then played a game of 'bat and moth' and the 'honey bear' game which the children enjoyed. They took turns sensibly.

The children built some great dens with a parent helper, and they also enjoyed using the 'scramble net'. The children were very focused and engaged throughout the session, and they enjoyed playing a group game of 'sheep and wolves' at the start of the session.

Oak Class had a slightly shorter Forest School session today, but they used the time wisely. All of the children were busy completing different activities. Lots of the children wanted to cut 'wood cookies' using the bow saw. Some of the children went bug hunting with some new bug hunting equipment (donated to us by a parent, thank you), and the rest of the children enjoyed building dens using the silver birch branches.

Sycamore had a slightly shorter session in Forest School today. The children used the tools and were whittling green wood using the knives.  A small group tried fire lighting using the 'Kelly Kettle' bases, but unfortunately due to the wet conditions they couldn't find enough dry kindling. The 'scramble net' was a big hit and the children enjoyed using it as a parachute, and were trying to keep the stuffed toys in the air!

The children were engaged and busy and worked really well together.

Rainbows really enjoyed Forest School today despite the weather! I was really impressed that they remembered the Forest School rules that we talked about last week. The children enjoyed making clay faces of the 'Little Red Hiding' characters using clay and natural resources, and they stuck these to the trees. We then played a blindfold game and the children were encouraged to use their senses to identify a tree that their friend had picked. To end the session, we went puddle jumping and the children loved splashing around.
