Choir Success
Children in the St Matthew's Breakfast Choir have won the regional Inter Schools Choir Competition.
Judges described the children's performance as 'faultless' as they wowed the crowd at the Fest in the Field event in Bordon. Seven school choirs entered the contest after being asked to sing songs that made them happy in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday.
Hundreds of onlookers heard the St Matthew's children sing 'Big Yellow Taxi' and 'River Deep, Mountain High'. The motown number was a particular success and was sung unaccompanied. The judges loved the children's ability to harmonise and said that the singers from St Matthew's looked like they were thoroughly enjoying their moment of fame on the big stage.
The performance was fantastic and sparked huge cheers from the crowd. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work and practice. The choir has reached a very high standard under the teaching of Miss Yates and is run on a Friday morning followed by breakfast. The standard of our singing is truly award-winning.
MP Damien Hinds presented the children with a beautiful trophy. The children will be singing their award-winning songs at the school fair and in church before the end of term. Come and listen!
