Alice's first Worship!
We now have a new member of our family at St. Matthew's School!
Alice Wood has joined us as Associate Vicar of St. Matthew's Church and will be sharing Dom's workload both at the church and in school. A previous teacher at the school in the 1990s, Alice is also the wife of our Site Manager and governor, Dave Wood, and has known the school well for many years. Alice is a former headteacher and will be a real asset to the school.
The children were delighted when she tricked them into thinking she was eating dog food during her first worship! She spoke to the children about doubting Thomas and how sometimes things were difficult to believe.
Children from Year 4 wrote special prayers asking for Alice to be filled with joy and love as she starts her ministry among our school community. Alice was presented with a card signed by all 198 children and a silver cross from the school before the choir sang to her. We are all looking forward to sharing worship and exciting adventures with her - a vicar that plays tricks is going to be fun to work with!
