Ash Wednesday Church Service
Sycamore Class led the Ash Wednesday service at St. Matthew's Church
On Wednesday morning, Sycamore Class led the Ash Wednesday church service for the whole of St. Matthew's school and parents. They clearly explained why Ash Wednesday is so important to Christians and retold the story of Jesus in the desert. The children were then invited to be ashed. This is an opportunity for children and adults to come and be blessed and reminded of the forgiveness they have been given. A cross is then marked on their forehead in ashes from the Palm Sunday crosses from last year. It was a very special and reflective service.
